My name is Chenalee Kesewaa, and I am the founder of One Step at A Time, an initiative advocating for safer, more accessible roads and pavements in Ghana. I am a mother of two wonderful children—Legacy and Legend—who inspire me every day to push for positive change.

Why I Started This Project

I was born with Achromatopsia, Nystagmus, and Photophobia, a visual impairment that affects how I see the world. Navigating public spaces has always come with challenges, but my experiences have only strengthened my determination to make accessibility a priority, not an afterthought.Accessibility in Ghana is often overlooked, leaving individuals with visual and mobility impairments struggling to move safely and independently. I knew this issue had to be addressed, but it was the words of my late cousin that truly sparked action. He told me: "You need to come home and improve your country."That moment stayed with me. It became more than just an idea—it became a responsibility. One Step at A Time was born from a desire to create lasting change, ensuring that no one is left behind simply because the environment isn’t built to accommodate them.

More Than Just Advocacy

This initiative is deeply personal. It is about community, empowerment, and progress—not just for myself, but for my children, for others like me, and for the future of accessibility in Ghana. One Step at A Time is about turning challenges into solutions, one pavement, one policy, one conversation at a time.

Join the Movement

Advocacy is powerful when we do it together. Whether through awareness, partnerships, or taking action, everyone has a role to play in making roads safer for all. Let's build a Ghana that welcomes everyone, one step at a time.
